TRUCK MOUNTED PLATFORMS

What is a truck-mounted aerial platform and what is it used for?
The truck-mounted platform is a type of PLE (elevating work platform) composed of an aluminum basket mounted on an extendable arm, which in turn is mounted on a truck, such as a van, a porter, a pickup or a lorry. Precisely for this characteristic, it is also commonly called truck with lifting basket.
The truck-mounted platform is a lifting means used to lift people during work at heights, such as cleaning gutters, painting, gardening and pruning, maintenance, installation of lights, posting of advertising signs and road signs.
The distinctive feature of truck-mounted aerial platforms is their ability to circulate freely on the road. Being mounted on means of transport, they can move quickly and autonomously from one site to another, without requiring dedicated transport. Therefore they are very useful vehicles for those jobs at heights that require frequent movements.
What do you need to use a truck-mounted aerial platform?
To be able to drive the truck on which the aerial platform is installed, it is necessary, first of all, to be in possession of the B driving license, or in some cases, as for truck-mounted platforms with heights exceeding 28 metres, also the C driving license.
To be able to operate the aerial platform, according to Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety, a specific qualification is required, usually called ple license. This qualification can also be obtained with our dedicated training courses, which provide instructions on the safety, correct use and maneuvering procedures of these vehicles.
If you do not have this qualification, it is possible to opt for the wet rental, a type of service that involves a specialized operator who manages the platform during use, offering professional support and guaranteeing maximum safety.
How does the truck-mounted platform work?
The operation of the truck-mounted platform is based on 3 elements:
- the extensible arm, articulated or telescopic, allows the operator to be lifted and closer to the desired work area. The arm can offer both high heights (in our fleet you will find truck-mounted platforms capable of reaching up to 75 meters in height) and notable lateral or negative outreaches, i.e. below the support surface (useful for example for inspections of under bridges or under trusses).
- The basket, large and resistant, offers a safe and reliable base for the operator while working. Usually, the basket also contains the commands for controlling the platform, allowing the operator to have maximum control over the movement and use of the aerial platform.
- the stabilisers are fundamental elements for the functioning of the truck-mounted platform. These are anti-tipping systems that serve to securely anchor the machine to the ground. By activating the stabilizers, the support area and the radius of the center of gravity are increased, preventing the machine from overturning or tilting and thus guaranteeing stability and safety when using the platform. We talk about in-shape stabilizerswhen the stabilisers, once positioned on the ground, remain within the maximum dimensional limits of the vehicle and out-of-shape stabiliserswhen the stabilizers go beyond the perimeter of the machine’s shape.
How much does it cost to rent a truck-mounted platform?
The cost of renting a truck-mounted platform can vary considerably based on various factors, such as, for example, the type of vehicle, the overall duration of the rental, or whether you opt for wet or dry rental (with or without an operator respectively).
