What is a self-propelled aerial platform and what is it used for?

Self-propelled aerial platforms are a type of elevating work platforms (PLE) characterized by an aluminum basket mounted on an extendable articulated or telescopic arm, which in turn is set up on a mobile and rotating base.

Unlike other MEWPs, self-propelled aerial platforms do not have stabilizers, as the machine body itself acts as ballast, therefore allowing greater mobility for operators during work at heights.

These turntables are particularly suitable for outdoor use, thanks to the presence of 4×4 anti-puncture wheels or tracks which allow them to be easily moved even on irregular terrain and on steep slopes. Furthermore, the electric or hybrid versions also make them suitable for applications in indoor or sensitive environments in terms of noise and emissions.

What do you need to use a self-propelled aerial platform?

In order to operate the aerial platform, according to Legislative Decree 81/2008 on safety at work, a specific qualification is required, usually called a ple licence. This qualification can also be obtained with our dedicated training courses, which provide instructions on the safety, correct use and maneuvering procedures of these vehicles.
